We have used 495 Movers on several occasions in the past 10 plus years for local and long distance domestic relocations and couldn’t be happier with both moving (different combinations of teams every time) and storage services. Highly recommended company with dedicated and professional stuff. Much appreciated is the attention in all parts of the process -from initial contact providing estimates to the care in packaging and delivering/storing one’s belongings. All personnel we encountered was courteous with a positive attitude. Carefully maneuvering those big trucks in narrow roads is also impressive. Thanks!

Our experience with 495 Movers was outstanding from the moment I called for an estimate to when they left our condo after the move was complete. Every member of the staff was friendly and professional in their interactions with us. They provided us with moving supplies and checked with us several times (via emails and phone calls) on if we needed anything. On move day, the movers were on time, packed the truck in an efficient manor, unloaded the truck quickly, and put everything where we wanted it. We highly recommend them.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2600

They kept trying to charge me move; the items arrived beyond when estimated.  Worst of all, numerous items were either broken - furniture, pottery - and missing (i.e. stolen - and the company never found them or offered to look for them).  A laptop computer, several expensive prints, and vintage (collector's items) plates, plus bank and personal records.  They pressured me to let them back things, saying if I did the packing it wouldn't be a "professional" packing job and not insured.  So they packed the kitchen.  Their "professional" packing job was to use grey sheets of paper - no bubble wrap or such protective materials - and simply wrap things in paper, then throw them in willy nilly in haphazard fasion into boxes; in this way many things were broekn.   After the move, they outright lied to Yelp about a review I tried to post there, threatening Yelp I think to get them to pull my review off (they succeeeded - and a number of their limited reviews were created by friends.  They changed their name only a few years ago - usually a red flag as it often means a company is covering up something - and have complaints about them with the Better Business Bureau.   They hooked me up with an insurance company that ended up refusing to back any claim.

Customer Service was terrific. Really easy process. I picked up a bunch of moving supplies the moving supplies ahead of time from their warehouse in Rockville At no cost to me. Boxes/tape/paper are included in the move. The three movers were terrific, they were on time, worked really hard and quickly with great attitude and politeness. They were very careful to cause no damage to my floors, walls, belongings, etc. We moved a lot of our own small stuff ahead, so the Movers just had to do the heavy/large stuff. My final costs were lower than the original estimate, which was greatly appreciated. Hundred percent would use them again, and will refer/family to do so too

495 Movers made my move less stressful then I imagined. They packed and loaded my belongings with care and efficiency. They safely stored my belongings for 6 weeks. Finally, they delivered my belongings with the same care and efficiency I initially experienced. The day of delivery was especially hot, yet the team persevered and carried in everything with some items having to travel up 3 flights of stairs! They never complained or seemed to slow down. I would recommend anyone consider 495 Movers.

My family recently used 495 Movers for a local move that also included packing and storage. We could not have been more satisfied with the level of service and care they provided, at every level. They were very punctual and professional and worked very diligently but at the same time were careful with what they were doing. We had them come the day before our move date to do the packing for us. The crew that came out was excellent. And 495 had representatives come out on each of the days to check in with us and their team members. Their office is also very good with reaching out to us before and after the move to answer any questions and make sure we were happy with the service. From top to bottom, 495 Movers have been a pleasure. They take away a lot of the stress and aggravation of moving. We will be using them again in the very near future as we return to a renovated house. I give them the highest recommendation possible. If service and quality are important to you, I cannot imagine a better company to use for your move!

Please don’t use this company. I should have read the negative reviews first, but I didn’t. I can abide one or two things, but jacking up the price of the deposit without a single warning, trying to get me to sign a sales agreement without a price noted, forgetting to move an entire section of my house, damaging property without telling me, leaving trash at my old residence, and calling me a liar to my face is too much. My family’s experience with 495 movers was not pleasant. After a sewage backup, my renter’s insurance covered a move under my plan. Decided to give 495 a try. Big mistake.
Spoke with Josh on 27 June 2015, and the first words I said were “I am authorized a move through an insurance claim, and I’ve never had to file a claim before where I’m using a moving company; can you help walk me through this process?” He quoted me $200 an hour which was all-inclusive, accounting for packing materials, manpower, and the fuel costs. He then asked if I would be able to pay a deposit equal to one hour of work ($200). I told him I wasn’t able to pay the deposit, that’s why I was filing a claim through my insurance. He put me on hold.
When he came back, he said before he could “lock-in” the date, I would have to pay a deposit. I could make the deposit on 30 June for a pickup on 1 July, after I got paid. Josh said that was fine. 30 June; I called back, but now the deposit was $400. Why the increase – it’s a short notice deposit and move date so now it’s doubled. That’s fine, I would have to pay my $500 deductible regardless. Josh thanked me and specifically told me on the phone “Since you’re going through insurance, when the crew gets done with the move they will hand you an invoice to pass to your insurance company.” I thanked him and hung up. (total estimate=$2,600)
On 1 July, the moving crew called me with a few minutes to spare for their arrival window and asked for further directions to my residence. The driver was lazy and I don’t remember his name, but the two other crewmembers, Cisco and Charles were ok. I showed them around, and the driver had me sign the initial block for insurance or not, and attempted to get me to sign the other block where the move is over and done with. The segment which indicates the hourly rate, crew size, number of trucks, and the overall estimate of the move were all blank. I did not sign it for obvious reasons. (the driver was quick to fill out that he arrived 15 minutes earlier than he actually did though)
While doing a walkthrough, I noted several gouges in the drywall on the staircase. Both the driver and Charles watched me take pictures, but neither of them said a word about it.
When completed, the driver whips out his folder and informs me I owe them money and cash or check would be fine. I was only supposed to get an invoice to send to the insurance company. The driver says he doesn’t know anything about it, and I could pay with a credit card with a 5% surcharge tacked on. I tell them the insurance company is supposed to take care of the rest, per Josh’s instructions. Charles offers to call Motie, and Motie tells me the same thing. I inform him of the entire conversation I had with Josh. Motie tells me I’m supposed to pay for the move, and my insurance reimburses me for the cost, and his guys can’t leave without payment. He suggests I pay for the move minus the 5% surcharge, and he’ll settle with my insurance carrier.
The next day, 2 July, Josh calls and he says that I never told him it was an insurance claim. I remind him of our first conversation. He persisted that I said nothing about insurance. So I quote the call verbatim, and he’s the one who informed me about the deposit, and the invoice to be sent to my insurance. He asked for my carrier’s number and I gave it. Josh hung up and called them, then called me back and said everything would be straightened out when I received the checks from my insurance. He asked if I could pay for the move now or would I have to wait for the checks. I told him I would have to wait. Josh sounded disappointed, mentioned again that I never told him it was an insurance claim, and that he would call me back within a couple days for a status update.
Since starting unpacking, I’ve noted several things. They didn’t move my computer monitor, my wife’s mixer, took apart her vanity but did not reinstall it (mirror supports got tucked in a separate box), corn starch exploded in the pantry box due to crappy packing, brand new toy box and coffee table got scratched up, they didn’t pack up ANYTHING from my full bath, they packed kitchen utensils in a used mop bucket, and they left trash at my old place. There’s other things missing, but this is too long now.
On 10 July, 2015, called Josh to make the payment. I tell him I haven’t heard back on the wall gouges or the damaged property. He sent me an email with the information afterwards. They also charged the 5% surcharge, but they did process a refund.

Fantastic Movers. I was very pleased with the service. They showed up on time and worked without stopping until they finished the job. They were very careful with every item and repacked them if they were unsure. Although their price was slightly higher then their competition, I was very glad I chose them considering the peace of mind I had and the professional behavior their movers.

Great Job, Very good company. Next time I move, I will definitely call you first.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1750

We made the 1 bedroom move from DC to NYC (Manhattan) in early February 2019. We did quite a bit of research and narrowed down to 3 companies. 495 was the only one that came out and did an in-person estimate. They were also the only one to give an all-in rate, including all the boxes and packing. All we had to down was handle the liquids. The movers were exactly on-time, efficient - four hours to pack, four hours to drive the next day, and about 3 hours to unpack. They also did all the disassembly and assembly. We were very happy to have purchased the all-in rate because we didn't have to worry about how many boxes/tape/packaging was being used, or if there would be traffic on the way from DC to NYC that would eat up for time. Three guys for moving out of the apt, one of those guys drove the truck up, and that guy and another helper for the move-in. No damages. Please note that we compared across quite a few movers, and 495 is more expensive but totally worth-it. We were out of DC and into NYC within a day - beats spending a few hundred less and having other movers hold your belongings hostage and/or never arrive. Thank you 495 for doing your job very well.

I am overall satisfied with the service from 495 Movers, from the beginning when they gave me the estimate, the process was quick and no hassle, they provided us with the boxes and the papers. On the moving day, the crews came in time and helped us with the boxing too as we hadn't finished yet. They worked fast with care. Most importantly they handled my complaint about the bill very nice and attentive, even though it was me who miscalculated the bill. I will definitely recommend this mover to my friends for their 5 start service.

I needed my studio moved from Washington DC to a two bedroom in Rockville MD. The parking is very tight where I used to live in DC and they managed to maneuver through like pros. They were quick, very careful and all around easy to work with. From the people who helped me out in the office to the movers that took amazing care of my belongings, I couldn't be anymore satisfied. If your struggling on making a decision call me and ill let you know my experience! 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

This is the 2nd time our family used 495 Movers locally. We used them for the 1st time in Jan 2017 and they did a wonderful job. I arranged the 2nd move for my mother-n-law who was downsizing and temporarily moving her items into storage. Based on my mother-n-law's feedback, 495 Movers did a great job wrapping her furniture to go into storage and they did a great job packing/moving all of her other items. They were careful and do quality work. They have great customer service, every person you interact with at the company is friendly and helpful. They are very responsive compared to the other companies. We got two other quotes from other companies and neither followed up. In addition, 495 movers are generous with their moving supplies which is all included in your move. Overall, they are a great company. We plan to use them for the 3rd time this June 2020 for a whole house move locally and into our forever home.

We needed to be move out the same day we called 495 Movers and within a few hours they were at our house early on time and packed us up professionally and expeditiously. Our movers were highly careful with all of our items, wrapping and boxing and taping to secure and prevent breaking with a mission. We did not need to micro manage these guys as they were given the directions and followed through with a great execution! We were held over an hour during the title signing and they showed nothing but pure satisfaction and high bar raising professionalism. Upon arrival, They placed every item neatly as directed, no scratches, no tears, nothing broken. Without highly recommend these astute business men. They make the entire experience of moving pleasing and no worries! Courteous and respectful was immediately noticed. This was my second move with 495 Movers. First was in 2017. We are a Military family. We worked with Priscila on the second move where we had two homes to move at the same time and she was able to get us a great rate with outstanding service. Yes, the move of two houses took longer than expected and we had to pay more in the end, but the service was amazing from beginning to end with Priscila. The foreman on the job was Freddie, who also worked my first move in 2017, which made me feel very comfortable as well. Freddie was easy to work with, very respectful, and took his time to understand what was needed. If we move again, 495 will be our top choice!
Don't forget to tip the crew! My crews have done a great job and they worked smart too! Make sure you give specific direction on where the items/boxes are to go and they will put exactly where you ask. Helps having a color coded system as well for the rooms :) Great process.
